The new Volkswagen Up! Lite Concept has revealed at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The VW company say it’s the most fuel-efficient car in the world. The Up! Lite is sincerely a precise wing of the L1 Concept that has unveiled in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new VW Up! Lite Concept powered by two sources. The first is a 2-cylinder 0.8-litre TDI engine making 38kW (51hp) at 4,000rpm and 120Nm between 1,800rpm and 2,250rpm. The other is a 10kW (14hp) electric motor working with a lithium-ion battery. Together they produce a 65hp.

VW announced today that Volkswagen and Porsche will become an Integrated Automotive Group as the Supervisory Board approved a comprehensive agreement. The agreement says that both the solid financial base of Volkswagen and Porsche's independence will be preserved. both companies hope this agreement will result in high growth, earnings and synergy potential accompanied by job security.



Volkswagen and Porsche will total sales of 6.4 million vehicles and more than 400,000 employees.Under this agreement, Volkswagen will take a 42.0 percent stake in Porsche AG by the end of 2009. this process will end with the complete merger of Porsche SE with Volkswagen.

The reasons: high fuel efficiency and extremely low emissions combined with maximum performance. The Volkswagen Passat has been part of Volkswagen for the better part of 35 years. It has undergone six transformations from the time it was first introduced in 1973. However, that number is about to change come to 2011 when Volkswagen releases a new wave of Passat automobiles.



Although the new Volkswagen Passat CC is still in its rendering stages, the initial images released by the company have given us a glimpse of something brimming with potential. Based on its current design, the new Passat still makes use of the tripartite design for its front bumper and has incorporated a sleeker-looking set of headlights. Its current design is pretty much inspired from Audi’s A6 Avant, although it’s said to be slightly bigger. Reports indicate that it will maintain the same engine type but will make use of a more versatile modular platform.

The automaker on Wednesday set the timetable for the U.S. launch of the car, starting in August with the 2.5-liter Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen that uses the 170-horsepower 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine.

The launch of the base model will be followed with the 2.0T Jetta SportWagen that gets the 200-hp four-cylinder engine in the fall. In early 2008, the Jetta SportWagen will be available with a 2.0-liter clean diesel engine.

The new head of Volkswagen, Dr. Martin Winterkorn, has killed a premium market concept internally called VW Tourer aka VW SportVan which was ordered by VW's former head Wolfgang Bernhard. That's already at least the third decision pulled back after the order for re-design of the next-generation VW Golf and the re-entry of the VW Phaeton to the US market with the next version.

More emotion in design for top-model Touareg - Hofele-Design gives the power car from Wolfsburg a more elegant and emotional note.The new styling kit for the VW Touareg consists of a complete front bumper with four distinctive additional lights, new LED day driving light and a double light with cornering light and fog light. Big air intakes provide the intercooler of the big engines with more air.

Trapezoidal tailpipes made of stainless steel are integrated into the new rear apron. The under ride protection is removable to give access to the trailer coupling. Side skirts, a rear roof spoiler and a rear door panel are also part of the styling kit. Additionally available is the hood scoop “Power Dome” which gives the ordinary hood more dynamic.

A Duplex stainless steel muffler provides an adequate sound for this luxury car.
Pirelli tires in the size 295/30 R22, mounted on the mighty 22 inch “Reverso 22” designer wheels take care about the right traction. The car can be lowered 40mm either with sport springs or an ETS module which lowers the air suspension.

Volkswagen's hydrogen fuel cell Tiguan made its North American debut today, and it's a pretty slick bit of kit even if it won't appear in showrooms anytime soon, if at all.

Although the company was also showing off its upcoming diesel Jetta TDI and talking a lot about the TDI Cup diesel racing series it sponsors, the Tiguan HyMotion was clearly the star of the show. It's an advancement over the HyMotion Touran it replaces, but company officials made it clear they aren't betting on hydrogen alone to save us.

"There isn't one technology, one fuel, that will provide the answer," John Tillman, who leads VW's advanced powertrain division in the U.S, told Wired.com. "We have multiple technologies. This is just one of them."

The company is pushing clean diesel in a big way and expects it to comprise 30 percent of its sales within a decade. But, like a growing number of automakers, it believes "the electric motor is the ideal prime mover for sustainable economy," and Tillman says VW is working on hybrid and battery electric drivetrains.more

Volkswagen was recalling certain of the 2008 Passat model and 2009 Tiguan passenger vehicles equipped with 2.0T FSI ULEV II engines. These vehicles have and engine control module (ECM) containing software that may not properly control engine idle with the air conditioning turned on. In rare cases, the ECM may unexpectedly increase engine RPM.An engine surge caused by a unexpected increase in engine RPM may suprise the vehicle operator and can result in a crash without warning.

The most powerful Volkswagen Passat ever produced is now on sale.

The new Passat R36, available in either saloon or estate bodystyles, is equipped with a naturally-aspirated 3.6-litre V6 engine developing 300 PS and 258 lbs ft of torque. Drive is channelled via a six-speed DSG gearbox through a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system capable of diverting torque to either axle depending on the grip available. As a result the saloon is capable of accelerating from rest to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds while the estate takes 5.8 seconds. Both models have limiters in place to restrict the top speed to 155 mph.
A set of 18-inch wheels housing Volkswagen 'R' blue brake callipers and a ride height lowered by 20 mm help distinguish the Passat R36 from the conventional vehicle. A new front bumper featuring a trio of deep airdams is joined by the distinctive chrome grille section inset into which is the 'R36 badge'. A set of Bi-Xenon headlight units complete the changes. At the rear a set of twin tailpipes, routed to either side of the bumper, compliment a subtle lip spoiler. The only badging comprises a simple 'R36' logo and the Volkswagen roundel.
The changes continue to the vehicle's interior. Unique front seats designed to offer greater lateral support are placed behind a sculpted sports steering wheel integrated into which are paddles for the DSG gearbox. A set of recalibrated 'R' dials are fitted alongside turned aluminium dashboard highlights, alloy pedals and sill plates bearing the 'R' logo.
Prices for new Passat R36 start at £30,990 on-the-road for the saloon and £32,150 for the estate model. Options include a choice of four colours ranging from silver to black, blue and grey. A further option of 19-inch wheels will also be offered at a later date.
As with the Golf R32 and Touareg R50 the Passat R36 was designed, engineered and developed by Volkswagen Individual. Established in 2003 and based in Wolfsburg, Individual is assigned with producing bespoke and highly focused vehicles such as the 'R' line-up as well as the BlueMotion range. The Passat R36 represents the fastest accelerating vehicle currently produced by Individual and Volkswagen.

The EcoRacer uses a carbon-fiber monocoque worthy of a Formula 1 machine. The engine, mounted amidships, is an early version of a new common rail diesel due in 2007. The result is a two-seater that pushes the sports-car envelope one full step beyond the likes of Lotus, Westfield, Caterham, and Ariel. Not only does it accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and top out at 143 mph, according to VW, it also averages a miserly 80 mpg. The only reason to sniff at the EcoRacer is the scent of diesel exhaust, which adds pungence to the open-air driving experience. We took the orange-metallic head turner for a spin on the Pau Arnos circuit in the south of France.



The engine starts at the push of a button, the gearbox responds promptly to paddle-shift inputs, and the accelerator offers instantaneous response. The cockpit layout is ultrasimple, and the shift lever meets your hand with a pleasant blend of leather and aluminum.

More details are popping out about the new Volkswagen Scirocco - the lightweight sport car - that we will get to see during the International Motor Show in Geneva. It uses a 1.4-liter TSI engine that develops 122 hp while there is a TDI version, too, works on a seven-speed DSG transmission automatic and semi-automatic. ESP is a standard on VW Scirocco.

About the interior there are not many details other than some “body-hugging sport seats” or a panoramic roof to watch the sky. We’ll know more next month.
