Yelena Gadzhievna Isinbayeva (born June 3, 1982) is a Russian pole vaulter. She is twice Olympic gold medalist (2004 and 2008), was named Female Athlete of the Year by the IAAF in 2004, 2005 and 2008 World Sportsman of the Year by Laureus in 2007 and 2009. Prince of Asturias Award for Sports in 2009. As a result of their achievements, many consider the greatest female pole vaulter of all time.

From age 5 to 15, Isinbayeva trained as a gymnast in her hometown of Volgograd. She finally left the sport because as growing up was considered too high to be competitive in gymnastics, ultimately reaching a height of 1.74 m (5 '8 ½ "). On July 22, 2005 became the first woman to clear the historical barrier of 5.00 meters in the pole vault.

His father, Gadzhi Gadzhiyevich Isinbayeva, is a plumber and a member of a small (130,000 people strong) ethnic group Tabasarans that mostly live in Dagestan. His mother, a shop assistant, is an ethnic Russian. Isinbayeva also has a sister called Inna. In fact, the second part of her jump is probably better than any male pole vaulter currently competing. She has an exceptional technique, it is quite high (almost 5 feet 9 inches) and runs very well. "

These statements are confirmed by close observation of her jumps, in detail, Isinbayeva's high level of body control (courtesy of her gymnastics background) especially pays off in the so-called "L-Phase", where essential to use post rebound to convert horizontal speed into height. Allison Stokke (Born March 22, 1989 Newport Beach, California) is a pole vaulter. She doesn’t have any major sport achievements to date, but she became immensely popular on the Internet after a big website featured her pictures.

Tatiana Grigorieva (Born October 8, 1975 in Leningrad, Soviet Union) is a retired Australian pole vaulter. She retired from the sport in 2007 after a 10 year career that saw her win Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship medals.

She went on to star in series six of Dancing with the Stars and as Olympia on the 2008 revival of Gladiators.

As a former national level hurdler in Russia, Tatiana took up pole vaulting when she migrated to Australia in 1997. Within 12 months of picking up a pole, she became one of the world's best, placing third in the 1998 Goodwill Games in New York. In her first appearance at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics she won the bronze medal.

At her first Commonwealth Games in 2002, she went into the competition as the overwhelming favourite with enormous pressure on her, Tatiana's goal was to win gold and set a new Games Record — she achieved both.

Since 2000 Tatiana has appeared in numerous television programs and ad campaigns and magazines and has graced a number of magazines covers including from Inside Sport and Black+White to GQ in Italy and Esquire in the UK.

Mary Sauer-Vincent (born 31 October 1975 in Green Bay, Wisconsin) is an American pole vaulter. Her personal best jump is 4.65 metres, achieved in July 2002 in Madrid.



In June 2001 Sauer became the third American woman ever to break the 15-foot barrier by vaulting 4.61 metres in Irvine, California. A five-time All-American in the triple jump and high jump at Azusa Pacific University, Sauer did not begin pole vaulting till after she graduated in 1997.




At the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, she just missed making the U.S. Olympic team after vaulting 4.33 metres.
