- Do not shave dry skin. Wet your skin and let the moisture soften your skin. Shaving is a natural exfoliator and if your skin is dry, your razor will get blocked with dead skin and you are likely to nick yourself as well.
- Do not waste money by buying creams specially made for women, as they are almost the same as those made for men.
- To find the perfect razor you will just have to use all those available and choose the one that you like best. You can ask your friends who shave to recommend razors. Look for a razor with lubricated strips, pivoting heads and spring mounted multiple blades.
- Exfoliate before you shave to ensure that the dead skin cells do not clog your razor and prevent a close shave.
- For your legs you will have begin shaving from your ankles and then work upwards. For your underarms you will have to shave in every direction as hair grows in every direction under your arm.
- After you have finished shaving apply oil or moisturizer. The skin on your leg has few oil glands and hence may become dry.
- When hair curls back under the skin it caused ingrown hairs. To avoid ingrown hairs exfoliate everyday and use a glycolic acid body lotions.
- If you have a chronic case of ingrown hairs then use a lotion that is specially made for ingrown hairs, that is easily available at the chemists. Apply it in the morning and at night and the bumps will vanish within a few days.
- If you shave your legs coarse hair will grow back fast. Therefore consider waxing your legs at least.
- Shaving: Shaving is a popular technique as it can be done at short notice and gives you instant results without much effort. Most women still continue to shave inspite of alternate techniques being available. This method is quick and cheap, though the hair grows back rapidly and when the hair grows back it is very coarse. You should soften the hair by washing the area with warm soapy water. Use light gentle strokes in the direction of the hair growth, to remove the hair. After you finish moisturize the skin. There are different kinds of razors, electrical, disposable, with twin blades and moisturizing strips. Choose one that suits you the best.
- Hair Removal Creams: These creams are manufactured in such a way that they dissolve the hair. These creams have an ingredient called keratolytic that will damage the skin if it is left on for a long time. Use a patch test the first time you are using a cream. But there is no doubt that they make the skin hair free, smooth and soft.
- Waxing: Though this method is a little painful, it is good to remove hair from the arms, legs and bikini line. Hair re-growth after waxing is slow and may take as much as two months. It is best to do a patch test for waxing as well. For best results one should continue waxing on a regular basis. Hair is removed from its root and when it re-grows it is finer. The problem with waxing is that the hair has to grow a little for waxing to be efficient. It helps to dust a little talcum powder on the area before waxing.
- Sugaring: This technique is similar to waxing. Here the removal solution is warmed and then applied on the area required with the help of a palette knife. The solution is applied in the direction of the hair growth. Then a cotton strip is used to cover the solution and torn away in the opposite direction and thus the hair is removed. Hair re-growth takes about six to eight weeks and it is fine.
- Electrolysis: This is a salon treatment and is expensive, but last longer and could be permanent as well. This requires a series of sittings if the results are to be good. A fine needle passes a very low electrical current into the hair follicle. After a session there will be slight swelling, redness and scarring which will take a few days to disappear.
- Laser treatment: This is another salon-based treatment that is expensive too. You need a few sessions for good results. Black activating lotion is applied over the area, to enable the hair follicle to absorb the laser energy. In this technique the best results are got from people with thick body hair.

Shaving
Shaving is the most popular and easiest way to get rid of armpit hair. All you need to do is get shaving cream or gel and a razor. The process is very economical, both in terms of money and time. The first step for removing armpits hair through shaving would be to apply the saving gel or foam in the underarms. In case you do not have a shaving gel, you can also go for hair shampoo. Now, just shave off the area with the razor. For people who are using a shampoo, it is important to rinse the underarms after hair removal, to make sure that no residue is left.
Waxing
Another popular method of getting rid of armpit hair would be to get waxing done. You can either do waxing on your own or you can go to a salon to get it done by professionals. For waxing, you would require a special heated wax, paper strip, sponge and some water. Apply a thin layer of heated wax in the underarms and then place the paper strip on top of it. Press it a little, so that it sticks to the wax. Now, rip the off paper, against the direction of hair growth, in a quick movement. Repeat the process, if small hair growth is still there. Once all the hair has been removed, dip the sponge in water and rub the waxed area softly.
Hair Removing Tools
There are many hair removing tools that are available in the market today. Some of them are epilators, electrolysis devices, electric hair removal pads and modern tweezers. Epilator is like an electronic shaver that claims to remove even the shortest of hair that waxing can miss. Some epilators also come with mini spotlight and massage rollers. As for the electrolysis devices, they are battery operated and are designed in such a way that they allow an electric current to pass through the hair, which assist in pulling off the hair painlessly.
Electric hair removal pads work in circular motion, removing the hair in the process. As the circular pads rotate clockwise and anticlockwise, all your underarm hair gets removed. Lastly, the modern tweezers are a refined version of the older ones. They help pluck the hair with more accuracy and also pluck 30 times faster than ordinary tweezers. They also claim to give a painless experience in the process.
Laser Hair Removal
The most expensive of all, laser hair removal, undertaken in cosmetic studios, help removes the hair permanently. All you need to do is find a cosmetic studio near your place and fix an appointment. Upon reaching the place, the concerned people would ask you to lie down or even make you sleep. You would only wake up to find a smooth armpit. With laser therapies and the like, cosmetic studios remove the armpit hair permanently. The process, however, is very costly and you would have to shed off a large buck from your pocket to get it done.
